What is a backdoor?
A backdoor is a type of Trojan that allows a threat actor access to a system by bypassing security controls.
Websites offering free movies and TV shows can infect your computer with malware. As can, downloading software illegally or from unknown sources.
Our video, shows how a user can run software that appears legitimate, however it contains a backdoor that connects back to the hackers computer.
As with most cyber risks, this can be controlled simply by limiting admin user rights, having an specific allowed list of applications and only legally obtaining and installing software from credible sources. All these risks are covered in Cyber Essentials.
